<image:title>How Long it Will Take - How long will it take for my taxes to be prepared and filed?</image:title>
<image:caption>That depends. If all information has been submitted, preparing to file a tax return can be completed in less than 2 weeks. However, there are often delays that impair this turnaround time. The most common delay is waiting for the collection of all required information. Often we will email clients requesting further information to support their tax filing. Waiting for responses is a common cause for delays in filing taxes. Once prepared, the next step is receiving signed authorization from from you (T183) to allow your return to be filed electronically. Tax returns should not be filed prior to our office receiving this signed form.</image:caption>

<image:title>How Long to Keep your Records - How long do I need to keep my records?</image:title>
<image:caption>The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) recommends that you keep your tax records, including original tax slips, for seven (7) years, including the year of the filing. For example, records of your 2022 tax return (filed in 2023) should not be destroyed before 2029. However, some documents need to be kept for longer periods to support the purchase cost of certain assets. These would include purchase documents for real estate, stocks/securities and other investments. This information is required to calculate capital gains and other income when assets are sold.</image:caption>
